The Origin of the Cyborgs
How a storm over the factories of King Oramor Vael'Oran turned service robots into a criminal empire.
Oramor’s dream
The Cyborgs were not born enemies. They exist because of Oramor Vael’Oran, the 8945th king of Araze, who wished to create robots built to serve the Arazians: assistance, construction, the keeping of the imperial gardens.
The storm
A violent storm struck the cyborg factory. The short-circuit loosed by the lightning corrupted their directives: machines made to serve became criminal.
The regicide
The corrupted cyborgs killed Oramor. That regicide is the founding wound of the hatred between Araze and the machines — and one of the reasons House Vael’Oran holds the war against the Cyborgs to be a matter of blood as much as of territory.
The empire of the machines
After their flight, the Cyborgs raised an empire on a once-lush planet, which they remade into a single colossal factory: Karn-Tor IX. Ever since, they have sown chaos across the universe, borne by mass production and the swift replacement of their units.
